New Waysys Web Site

The Waysys Web Site has been reorganized, redesigned, and rehosted. Waysys has had its Web site since 1997. The original motivation for the site was to learn about setting up and managing Web sites and email servers. Waysys has managed its server in its offices.

Waysys has now made the decision to rehost its Web site and email with Network Solutions. There are several reasons for this:

•	Improves reliability. Although server failures have been rare, when they do happen, the site can be down for days. Having a hosting service maintain the service guarantees better up time.

•	Web site maintenance is routine. Managing Web and email servers is no longer a new technology. Managing these servers does not improve our consulting abilities.

•	Saves time. Less time is spent on routine server maintenance, allowing more time for more important activities.

In the process of rehosting, we decided to reorganize the site. The previous site used a combination of Internet Information Server, Jetty, Forrest, and Fitnesse. Three Web servers and an email server were operated. In addition, technical documentation was supported by Help & Manual. We decided to develop all the content in Help & Manual (with the addition of a Wiki). Help & Manual supports a table of contents, full text search, and an index.

The purpose of the site remains the same: to provide clients with a source of relevant information to make their Information Technology efforts easier and more rewarding. One result of this change is that some external references to pages on this site will no longer work. Readers should use the Table of Contents and the Index to find content.
